The University repository, Apollo, will undergo a significant upgrade this Spring

The upgrade will begin on Thursday 20 April. The Elements system, which is linked to Apollo, will be unavailable for 4-5 days while the underpinning repository platform, DSpace, is upgraded to its latest version. It will not be possible to make open access, research data or doctoral theses deposits during this time, although Apollo will remain available to view.

Major upgrade to underpinning systems

The DSpace upgrade will allow the Library’s Open Research Systems Team to make our repository infrastructure more secure, robust and resilient. It will also incorporate new and critical functionality to further enhance discovery, access and long-term preservation of the research outputs of the University held in Apollo.

Visible changes

The upgrade to DSpace7 will give you an improved, modern and more accessible interface to Apollo, making it easy for you to search, browse, discover content, and subscribe to updates.

The Elements upgrade will also add some extra functionality, including increased integration with ORCID. You won’t notice many changes when using Elements, however, as this underwent a major upgrade last year.

Launch date

We expect Apollo and Elements to be unavailable for 4-5 days during the upgrade. We will let you know when the upgraded systems are available.
