There are two components to migrating to the new print server: configuring your print settings for the new print server; and then removing your old printer settings from your list of configured printers. Do not uninstall you current working printer, until you've made sure your newly configured printer prints successfully.

1. Configuring the new print server

1. Locate the PR/PH number for the printer or photocopier you wish to install, and note it down. It can be found on the asset tag on the front of the device, and will look like either PR0xxxxx or PH0xxxxx. If there are only four digits please add an extra 0 to the front of the number. E.g. 'PR9123' becomes 'PR09123'.

2. In the search box at the bottom of your desktop, type "Print".

3. Open Printers and scanners, and click on Add a printer or scanner to start a search of printers on the network.

4. After a short while The printer that I want isn't listed message is displayed in blue text. Click on this message and a new pop up will appear.

5. Select Find a printer in the directory, based on location and feature, then click next

6. In the Name field enter the PR/PH number you noted down earlier.

7. Double click on the printer you want to install from the list of printers. If more than one instance of the same printer appears in the list, select the printer that is mapped to the server mps-live-print1.internal.admin.cam.ac.uk.

8. The printer will now start to install. Once installed click Next to proceed.

9. If you want this printer to be your default printer, select Set as the default printer.

10. Click Finish.

Your printer should now be listed on the Printers and scanners page.

2. Uninstalling an old printer from your list of configured printers.

After you have configured the new print server you will need to remove your old print server settings.

1. In the search box at the bottom of your desktop, type "Print".

2. Open Printers and scanners, and locate the printer you wish to uninstall. Click to select it.

3. Click Remove device.

4. Finally click Yes to confirm the uninstall.

The printer should now be uninstalled, and no longer listed on the Printers and scanners page.
