This guide is for new users of university-managed iOS devices. These are known as University Managed Desktop (UMD) devices.
There are some simple steps to help you get set up as quickly as possible.
Initial setup
These instructions assume the device is unconfigured. To prepare an already configured device for enrolment please follow Apple’s guide on how to erase your iPad.
- Unpack your new device and power on.
- Select 'English (UK)' as your language.
- Select 'United Kingdom' as your region.
- Choose any of the accessibility options that you require or select 'Not now'.
- Choose and connect to a University network such as UniofCam-Guest when prompted. You cannot connect to the eduroam wifi network for set up. If you are starting remotely, use your home wifi.
- The iPad will activate.
- Choose ‘Enrol this iPad’.
- When prompted authenticate with your University account password (formerly Raven).
- Choose to configure Touch ID or Face ID. Use of biometrics is optional but we recommend you set this up.
- Enable Location Services.
- Choose your preferred display style.
After initial setup
Once Setup Assistant is complete, you will see the Home Screen.
To install apps from a curated selection open the Self Service app. To access apps from your own account, log in with your Apple ID via Setting.
