Wireless service maintenance 08:00–09:00 Tuesday 9 March
The University Wireless Service will be undergoing maintenance between 08:00 and 09.00 on Tuesday 9 March. During this period, users may experience interrupted service to eduroam, the UniOfCam guest system, the UniOfCam-IoT system and local SSIDs.
CHRIS, ESS and UPS unavailable all day on Thursday 4 March
CHRIS, Employee Self-Service (ESS) and the University Payment System (UPS) will be unavailable all day on Thursday 4 March while we install the latest upgrade to the CHRIS system.

The Network Infrastructure team at UIS has just completed work on transforming the data network at The Old Schools. The network had been unreliable, difficult to support and in desperate need of updating for many years.
The future of the Streaming Media Service (SMS) and media hosting
The Streaming Media Service (SMS) is one of the platforms the University uses to host media. The technology on which it is built will reach the end of its serviceable life in approximately 12 months’ time.
Panopto lecture capture: browser-based recording now available
All staff with creator access to Panopto can now record their video, audio, screen and applications directly within their internet browser, using the new ‘Panopto Capture’ feature.
Taking a plunge: the University completes its first digital winter pool
The University's first ever digital winter pool was held this month, replacing paper files and face-to-face meetings with digital folders and online collaboration tools. Despite being the largest winter pool on record, the digital incarnation proved so successful that there's no desire to return to the old in-person approach.
Raven maintenance on 18 January 2021
We’ll be carrying out some maintenance on Raven from 12:00 to 13:00 on Monday 18 January 2021. The process of signing into some services, such as Google G Suite@Cambridge may be slow or temporarily interrupted during this period.
Adobe Flash Player has reached end-of-life
Adobe has announced that it no longer supports Flash Player and will block Flash content from running in the browser plug-in from Tuesday 12 January 2021.

Be on alert for tech support scams
Fraudsters are taking advantage of the Covid-19 pandemic as the UK public continue to spend more time at home and utilise the internet for work and personal use. Be on the lookout for cold calls and pop-up browser windows claiming to offer technical support.
Panopto planned maintenance: Saturday 19 December
Panopto will be undergoing an upgrade on Saturday 19 December at 22:00 and will be unavailable for up to 3 hours.
Upgrades to Point-of-Presence switch firmware 7–15 December
UIS Networks will be scheduling upgrades to Point of Presence (PoP) switch firmware on the UDN backbone in December 2020. This involves reloading a switch which will cause a short period of downtime at 03:00. See the schedule below for your institution.
Raven SAML 2.0 service changes on Tuesday 8 December
We're making changes to the Raven SAML 2.0 service on Tuesday 8 December that will affect the information it releases when you use it to sign in to websites. No new information is being released, but IT staff who run sites that use the 'sign in with Raven' functionality may need to be aware of changes to email address attributes.
