University accounts (formerly Raven) are the University-wide web authentication service provided by UIS. Logging in using your University account securely verifies your identity before granting you access to the private online resources that you are authorised to use.
Many of the University's online resources require University account authentication to protect private data. To identify people it uses standard UIS user identifiers (CRSid) and a password:
Your password is only seen by the University account server and is transmitted over secure http which helps to protects it while it is travelling over the network.
Some websites using University accounts are automatically available to all registered account users, but others are available only to particular groups of people.
