One of the advantages of having speed-dials set is that, assuming you are calling internally, you can immediately see the presence status of your contacts so you will know if they are available to take your call.
Your speed dial contacts appear to the right in the main Teams window, along with any contact and call groups you manage (the exact layout changes depending on the with of the Teams app window).
Add a Speed Dial shortcut
Add a new Speed Dial from the Calls window
- Select Calls
- You may need to select the Phone option if it opens on the 'Contacts' view
- Look for the 'Speed Dial' section in the main window (its position will vary with your window width)
- Click the + icon:
- Type in a name or number and select Add:

- Select Calls
- Select the Contacts option if it opens on the 'Phone' view
- Select More (...) to the right of one of your contacts:
- Type in their name and select Add to speed dial
Call a Speed Dial contact

- Select Calls
- Select More (...) next to one of your Speed Dial contacts
- Select the Video Call or Voice Call icon to start a call (providing they have added a phone number in the University Directory):
