FAQ V27

The only way to be sure that the format of your references will be acceptable to your thesis examiners and/or publisher is to submit some sample pages to your supervisor or publisher for approval. It is crucial that you do this before you have invested significant amounts of effort into something which may need to be re-done from scratch.

In particular, you should be aware that EndNote cannot automatically move citations from footnote text into the main body of your document or vice-versa, and that creating very complex custom styles may take a considerable amount of time. If your sample pages are not acceptable, and you are unsure how to set up EndNote so that it will produce suitable output, it is very important that you ask an expert – contact the UIS Service Desk – for advice sooner, rather than later. Please do not leave this until a few days before you are due to submit your work.

The Computing Service runs a course on basic use of EndNote each term (see Endnote for Bibliographies courses). If you need further help, or if you can't attend the course and would like a copy of the course workbook, email
