Power Platform consists of Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power BI

What is Power Platform?

Power Platform is a collection of low-code tools designed to help create apps and workflows.

What are the benefits?

  • Automate tasks with Power Automate and Power Apps
  • Use Power Apps to build custom apps connected to Microsoft365 data sources
  • Create reports and insights using Power BI

How do I access it?

Power Apps:

Complete a service request if a per App or per User license is required.

Power Automate:

For Premium connectors you will need to purchase a standalone license via Phoenix software (

Power BI:
Mobile app:

In order to publish content to an app workspace and share reports a Power Bi Pro license is required, this can be requested via the Service Desk for central staff members of the University. (This does not include college staff members, your institution must procure Power Bi Pro licensing for you)

If you are planning to create apps or workflows for your team or institution, you should request that an environment is created, otherwise everything will be saved to the default 'University of Cambridge' environment which everyone can access. Complete a Service Request to request a new Power Environment.
(Types of environment are listed here, the default created will be Production unless you specify otherwise in the request form.)

We also recommend the use of service accounts for apps and flows that are used for important processes, to prevent loss of access when a user leaves. Service accounts can be created via Toolkit ( but you will need to request licenses for the account.
