Cloud-based storage for individuals
Staff and students have up to 3GB of storage space as part of their Desktop Services account. This DS-Filestore can be accessed by any computer on the University's network, including those in Managed Cluster Service (MCS) rooms.
UIS also offers three third-party cloud-based data storage services that you can associate with your @cam email address:
- OneDrive – Microsoft's cloud-based file hosting service, which is available to people who are eligible for a University Microsoft account. It offers 5TB of storage space.
- Google Drive – Google's cloud-based file hosting service gives each member of the University 20GB of free file storage.
- Dropbox Business – Dropbox's paid-for cloud-based file hosting service, which is available to Cambridge students and staff at a heavily-discounted rate through the University.

File storage for institutions
Institutional File Storage (IFS) service
Institutional File Store is a service for departments to store and share everyday documents with colleagues. It is aimed at desktop and laptop users who will have access to the storage via a mapped drive on their computer.
File storage to support research
Research Data Storage services
UIS's research data storage services offer a competitively priced alternative to storage on local platforms, which can be costly to introduce and maintain, and to storage on external drives, where data may be physically vulnerable and there is little or no guarantee that lost, stolen or corrupted data can be recovered.
Research Data Repository
The University of Cambridge Data Repository provides long-term archival, access and dissemination of the University's research outputs. It is a joint initiative of Cambridge University Library and the Research Operations Office.
