Symplectic Elements, the University’s Research Information Management System, will undergo a significant upgrade this summer, ready for the new academic year.
Users will notice a big difference in the look and feel, as well as several functional improvements. Upgrading to the latest release will give us a strong platform from which to better support researchers and research administrators across the University.
2 minute tour of the new features
The new version has a modern look and feel, and makes it easier to perform common tasks:
System downtime from 18 August
The upgrade is scheduled to start on Thursday 18 August. The system will be unavailable for 3 to 4 days while reindexing takes place. During this time, it will not be possible to deposit research outputs in Apollo – University of Cambridge Repository.
New support materials
Alongside the upgraded system, a new Research Information SharePoint site will provide completely revised, short and accessible user guides to help people get the most from the system’s features. We hope that this will make it easier to introduce new staff and students to Elements, and to learn about future improvements.
Launch date
We will let you know when the upgraded system and support site are live. If you have any questions or comments, please contact us at researchinformation@admin.cam.ac.uk
