University Information Services

The Quality Assurance team provides an independent measure of confidence, protecting the critical systems, products and services that our stakeholders rely on, such as Student Information Systems, Teaching and Learning (Moodle VLE) and HR Applications.

Quality Assurance defines fit for purpose processes, methods and governance that should be followed when changing existing products or services, or introducing new ones. It then independently verifies and validates deliveries against the criteria defined; protecting and supporting the University in line with its mission “The mission of the University of Cambridge is to contribute to society through the pursuit of education, learning, and research at the highest international levels of excellence”.

As systems become increasing complex and users have higher expectations of quality, flexibility and mobility, the need for strong Quality Assurance services has never been more important or valuable.

Our Quality Assurance services use proven and reliable methods of delivery such as waterfall, iterative waterfall and agile, which are underpinned by processes and techniques from PRINCE2, ISTQB, and Agile Project Management (DSDM).

Our Quality Assurance services are provided by internationally certified professional software testers.

The Quality Assurance team can:

  • provide process guidance on building quality into any software delivery from the start  by using the correct methodology and governance to deliver to the expected levels of quality, on time and within cost.

  • provide functional software testing services by protecting quality, validating and verifying requirements, mitigating risks and finding issues (via static and dynamic analyses,) as early as possible.

  • provide non-functional software testing services such as performance tests (load, stress, endurance (soak), spike and configuration).
