We use Microsoft Exchange Online for our central email system. Your "@cam" mailbox is part of your University Microsoft 365 for Education account.
What's my Cambridge (@cam) email address?
Your email address is your CRSid + @cam.ac.uk. For example, "abc123[@]cam.ac.uk"
How do I get my mailbox?
Students
You’ll get an email from the Student Registry before your first term. It gives you instructions for completing your online student registration.
At the end of the registration process, you’ll go on to get your University IT account. This gives you your:
- CRSid
- University IT password (for your Microsoft 365 account)
- @cam email address
Staff
You'll get instructions during your onboarding process. If you need help, contact your local IT support staff.
How do I get to my @cam mailbox?
You have 3 choices:
- Use Outlook in your web browser (webmail)
- Set up the Outlook desktop or mobile app on your device
- Set up your favourite mail app using the generic settings or Thunderbird tips
Signing in with your University IT account (Microsoft 365) credentials
- Username = your @cam email address
- Password = your University password
Multi-factor authentication (MFA)
We use MFA to keep your University account secure. You may need to update the settings on your mail app after you have set up your MFA:
Additional College and Departmental email accounts
You might also get an email account from your College or Department. These are usually under the Cambridge subdomain. For example, "you[@]department.cam.ac.uk" or "you[@]college.cam.ac.uk". If you need help, contact your local IT support staff.
