Online educational videos and lecture capture (pilot)

Panopto, an online video recording and hosting system, is available across all teaching institutions to support teaching and learning activities. It has also been used for the lecture capture pilot.

Online educational videos with Panopto

Lecturers can use the Panopto system to create video recordings on desktop or laptop devices and deliver them to students via Moodle, alongside their other course materials.

Students

Your Moodle course may have added a direct link to the recordings that you access through the course. Simply log in to Moodle and access the Panopto block from the right-hand side of your screen.

Visit our Moodle course to learn how the Panopto system can be used to create recordings and make them available via Moodle.

Lecture capture (pilot)

Panopto is also in use for the lecture capture pilot.

Video can be used to benefit students and staff by: 

  • enabling students to revise or revisit complex topics
  • reducing pressure on note-taking and supporting the development of note-taking skills
  • providing a resource for staff self-evaluation and teaching enhancement.
