IT Help and Support

University Information Services

Panopto is funded for educational use only. Its licencing and funding are based on 2 categories of usage: recorded and stored hours. We frequently reach our storage limit.

The Panopto Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) is to ensure that the Panopto service is used primarily to support students learning on a course of study and that other uses do not have a negative impact. It aims to help users understand the appropriate use of Panopto and to keep usage within the agreed license cost limits.

The policy will be regularly reviewed and may be subject to change.

Recordings must meet all the following requirements to be stored on Panopto:

  1. The storage and distribution of video content directly supports current students in their studies towards a qualification, degree or award provided by the University.
  2. The stored recording provides educational content that directly supports teaching, learning, and assessment on an award-bearing course of study at the University, including executive education courses and Summer School programmes.
  3. The stored recording is for dissemination between Lecturer/Teacher and Students, on a course of study at the University of Cambridge.

Read the Panopto Acceptable Use Policy

If you are unsure if your recording meets the permitted requirements email lecturecapturehelp@uis.cam.ac.uk for assistance.
