When you arrive at Cambridge, you'll need to get your CRSid which is a unique ID number. You'll also get a temporary password.
You can use this temporary password to set up your University account (formerly Raven). This allows you to access your @cam email, Microsoft 365 apps and other University systems.
How to get your CRSid and University account if you're a student
The Student Registry will send you an email inviting you to complete the student registration process. After registering, you can collect your CRSid and temporary University account password before you start your course at Cambridge. The registration email will be sent to the email address you gave when you applied to the University.
How to get your CRSid and University account if you're a member of staff
Step 1: Fill in the new user sign-up page
Go to the Jackdaw website: https://jackdaw.cam.ac.uk/signup/
Fill in your 'Name', 'Date of Birth' and 'Code'. If you're a student you can enter your admission code. If you're a member of staff, your line manager or new colleagues will give you a registration code.
Select 'Search'.
If the details are correct, select 'Next'.
If the information is not yours, close your browser window and email the User Administration team at user-admin@uis.cam.ac.uk.
Accept the Terms and Conditions by selecting 'Yes'.
Write down your 'CRSid', 'email address' and 'temporary password'. You'll need this in the next step.
Step 2: Change your password
Now you can visit the password management site, select 'Log in using Raven' and log in with your temporary password.
Set up your own password by selecting 'Change password'.
It can take up to 3 hours for your password to update when you first change it. You'll be able to access your @cam email address and Microsoft account after this.
Step 3: Set up password recovery in case you forget your password
You should also set up self-service password recovery and department/college resetting. This allows you to easily reset your password if you forget it.
You'll need to nominate a recovery email address or mobile phone number (or both) and set up 2 security questions. The answers to your security questions should be information that only you know and that wouldn't be easy to find online (for example, avoid things that you might have posted on Facebook or other social media sites).
