Changes to password management for UIS-managed device users

As of 6 December 2024, the Password Management app does not change all your passwords, as it used to do. If you're using a UIS-managed PC or laptop, you may need to take an extra step to change some passwords.

  • ACN/UAS Desktop users: the Password Management app updates your University IT account password. Change the password for your ACN/UAS Desktop and remote access on your device. See How to change your ACN/UAS Desktop and remote access password below.

  • University Managed Desktop (UMD) users: the Password Management app updates your University IT account and UMD passwords. You should be using the VPN when working remotely, not the remote access service. If you need to use the remote access service, please contact the Service Desk for help changing your password.

You can check what type of University laptop or device you have.

How to change your University IT account password

  1. Go to the Password management app.

  2. Select "Log in using Raven". If you’ve forgotten your password, you can reset your password.

  3. Select "‘Change password".

  4. Enter your current password.

  5. Enter a new password.

We recommend that you use the built-in password generator tool. Select the "Generate a random password" link below the new password field.

You can copy and paste the suggested password into the new password field.

The strength of your new password will be shown as you type. We recommend using a password with a rating of "Very strong".
