Moodle upgrade

We will not be upgrading our version of Moodle this summer. Instead, we'll use the time to advance projects to improve the Moodle user experience. Our current version of Moodle (4.1) is a long-term support (LTS) release, which means it will be supported for 36 months and security updated well beyond our intended upgrade date of summer 2025.

Google Drive and Microsoft storage quotas

We are rolling out the Google Drive 500GB quota and Microsoft 100GB (visitor and guest accounts) and 1TB (staff and student) storage quotas to all University accounts. The quotas are in response to Google and Microsoft's announcements last year to introduce limits on the amount of data that can be stored in their cloud storage services.

1TB quota for new SharePoint sites from 19 February

All new SharePoint Online sites, included with the University's Microsoft Office 365 offering, will have a storage quota of 1TB from 19 February 2024. This forms part of our storage review following Microsoft's announcement to limit the amount of data that can be stored on their cloud storage service.

Recordings made on Microsoft Stream before 4 January 2021 must be migrated by 29 February

Microsoft is replacing its original version of Stream, which it refers to as 'Stream (Classic)', with Microsoft Stream (on SharePoint), where videos are saved to SharePoint by default.
