Planned maintenance to the University Wireless Service 25-27 March 2024

We’ll be carrying out a series of planned essential maintenance to the University Wireless Service during 25–27 March.

Google Drive and Microsoft storage quotas

We are rolling out the Google Drive 500GB quota and Microsoft 100GB (visitor and guest accounts) and 1TB (staff and student) storage quotas to all University accounts. The quotas are in response to Google and Microsoft's announcements last year to introduce limits on the amount of data that can be stored in their cloud storage services.

University business systems unavailable between 7am and 8:30am on 21 February

University business systems, including HR and finance, will be unavailable for up to 10 minutes between 7am and 8.30am on Wednesday 21 February, while we carry out essential maintenance on our data centres. 1TB quota for new SharePoint sites from 19 February

All new SharePoint Online sites, included with the University's Microsoft Office 365 offering, will have a storage quota of 1TB from 19 February 2024. This forms part of our storage review following Microsoft's announcement to limit the amount of data that can be stored on their cloud storage service.

Recordings made on Microsoft Stream before 4 January 2021 must be migrated by 29 February

Microsoft is replacing its original version of Stream, which it refers to as 'Stream (Classic)', with Microsoft Stream (on SharePoint), where videos are saved to SharePoint by default.

Refresh your eduroam wifi set-up by 31 January

If you use the University’s eduroam wifi service, you will need to refresh the eduroam set-up on all of your devices by 31 January 2024 to ensure your connection to eduroam continues uninterrupted.

Plan to decommission DS-Filestore on 1 April 2024

We plan to decommission DS-Filestore on 1 April 2024. Users will not be able to access data in DS-Filestore after this date and will need to transfer any files they wish to keep to one of our alternative services.

UIS Christmas closure 2023

UIS will be closed from 5pm on Friday 22 December 2023 until 8:30am on Tuesday 2 January 2024. Please ensure you've set up self-service password recovery and several second factors for MFA to avoid any difficulties with account access during the closure.

eduroam public certificate change on Friday 8 December
