PoP switches: scheduled firmware updates, 16–27 Sept

UIS will be applying firmware updates to all point-of-presence (PoP) switches before the start of Michaelmas Term 2024. There will be 10 to 15 minutes downtime at 03:00 on the day of the upgrade.

Shared network drives will be unavailable on Saturday 27 July 2024 between 09:00 and 17:00.

Annual archiving and deletion of Panopto content

The annual archive of Panopto lecture capture content has been scheduled for 3 September. Live content created on or before 31 August 2024 will be moved into the Panopto archive. Last year’s archive, containing content created on or before 31 August 2023, will be permanently deleted on 31 August 2024.

University Wireless Service: essential maintenance, July 2024

We will be carrying out essential maintenance to the University Wireless Service on several dates in July. This is to implement updates, upgrades and fixes. The service may be interrupted during these maintenance periods.

Improvements to the Microsoft Authenticator app in August 2024

The Microsoft Authenticator app will show you more information when you are using multi-factor authentication (MFA) to log in with your University account from 1 August 2024.

SharePoint: changes to permissions for new sites from 2 July 2024

We are changing the permission options for our SharePoint sites. From 2 July, SharePoint administrators will not be able to choose the ‘Everyone’ or ‘Everyone except external’ groups when setting permissions on new sites.
