Raven: the University's authentication service

Raven is the University-wide web authentication service provided by the UIS. Logging in using Raven securely verifies your identity before granting you access to the private online resources that you are authorised to use.

Many of the University's online resources require Raven authentication to protect private data. To identify people it uses standard UIS user identifiers (CRSid) and a password:

ss 001

Your password is only seen by the Raven server and is transmitted over secure http which helps to protects it while it is travelling over the network.

Some web sites using Raven are automatically available to all registered Raven users, but others are available only to particular groups of people.

Which password should I use for Raven?

Use your Raven password to log in with Raven, or your separate password for Raven, if you still use one.

Note: Changing or resetting any one of your individual Raven, Hermes or Desktop Services passwords will synchronise them all to use a single Raven password.
