IT Help and Support

University Information Services

University Information Services (UIS) provides many University-wide IT services, in addition to those offered by your College.

You can access the following services as a student at Cambridge:

Connect to wifi

A few Colleges provide their own wifi. UIS provides access points in all University buildings and the rest of the Colleges for the ‘eduroam’ network.

eduroam

Set up devices to connect to eduroam and automatically stay connected to the network around Cambridge. You can also connect at other participating universities around the world, using your University account (formerly called Raven).

Connect to eduroam

UniOfCam-IoT: for personal devices that can't use eduroam

You can connect personal devices that cannot log in via eduroam to UniofCam-IoT. This includes:

  • media streaming devices like Apple TV
  • smart speakers like Amazon Echo or Google Home
  • equipment such as printers

Print, copy and scan

You can print, copy and scan using DS-Print, the University's managed print service. This is available on the University managed desktops (UMDs) in computer rooms in Colleges and Departments. You can also print from your own devices, either on or away from the University network, but you will need to install DS-Print software first.

Buying printing credits

You pay for printing through credits either on your Common Balance or Local Balance. Many Colleges and Departments use the University-wide 'Common Balance' scheme. Others operate their own 'Local Balance' scheme, which may include some free credits.
