IT Help and Support

University Information Services

A new version of Toolkit for Blue AD, which gives local administration access to institutions in the Blue University-wide Active Directory, launched on 21 June 2023 with a new interface and some minor updates to functionality.

The new version will provide a strong foundation for future developments and enable the iteration of smaller changes more frequently.

The Blue AD Toolkit allows local administrators to:

  • manage institutional Blue AD groups
  • create distribution lists with email addresses
  • create shared mailboxes in Exchange Online.

See Blue AD Toolkit for more information.

Who can use the Blue AD Toolkit?

If you are an existing Toolkit user, permissions will be carried over to the new version. If you are new to Toolkit, please email the UIS Service Desk to request access.

The Toolkit management groups are self-managing, so institutions can add/remove their own members.

How do I access the new version?

From 21 June, login will be via https://toolkit.uis.cam.ac.uk. A redirect will be in place from https://toolkit.blue.cam.ac.uk, and permissions will be carried over.

See the Toolkit user guide for further details.

If you have any Toolkit feature requests or questions, please email servicedesk@uis.cam.ac.uk.
