IT Help and Support

University Information Services

28 March 2024

We will not be upgrading our version of Moodle this summer. Instead, we'll use the time to advance projects to improve the Moodle user experience.

Our current version of Moodle (4.1) is a long-term support (LTS) release, which means it will be supported for 36 months and security updated well beyond our intended upgrade date of summer 2025.

An upgrade now would be an unnecessary change and cause needless disruption to users.

We will use the time to accelerate our work in establishing the future direction of an education-focused Moodle, which will involve close collaboration with our users.

Our other priorities will include updating and improving the Moodle platform, with a focus on security and plugin updates, addressing user feedback from the previous upgrade, and conducting user research to identify areas for improvement.

Further details will be shared as plans are formalised.

If you have any questions or concerns, please email MoodleHelp@uis.cam.ac.uk.
