University Information Services

14 December 2023

We plan to decommission DS-Filestore on 1 April 2024. Users will not be able to access data in DS-Filestore after this date and will need to transfer any files they wish to keep to one of our alternative services.

What's changing

Following the closure of the Managed Cluster Service (MCS) on 1 August 2023, the DS-Filestore service that supported it will be decommissioned. Every MCS user was provided with DS-Filestore space.

Read how to access your DS-Filestore.

Action required

If you have data stored in DS-Filestore, you should delete all unwanted files and transfer the files you wish to retain to one of our alternative storage services before 1 April 2024.

We recommend considering Institutional File Storage (IFS) for institutions to share and store documents with colleagues and OneDrive for users to store their everyday documents and files.

Please follow the  DS Filestore guidance on transferring files from DS-Filestore when relocating your files.
