We are launching a new ‘Get your University IT account’ web app in March. The app will replace the current Jackdaw IT account collection screens. New staff and students use this to collect their University IT account (formerly called Raven).
What you need to do
We will be releasing the web app gradually. We are contacting several HR teams, asking them to send their new starters to the new link. Once we are confident, we will direct all users there.
We will send out comms once the app is fully launched so you can direct new starters there. At this point, any existing Jackdaw links will also redirect to the new URL.
What's changing?
We have modernised the design and user experience. We have also updated the app to ask users to agree to the Acceptable Use Policy. The account collection process is the same.
You can see a screenshot of the new landing page (PNG,49 KB).
We will update the Getting University IT account web page with new screenshots after the app goes live.
The account request form in Jackdaw will remain the same. IT staff and departmental administrators should keep using it to request new user accounts.
If you would like a demo of the app before the full release, please let Naomi Turner, Identity and Access Management (IAM) Product Manager, know.
Why are we doing this?
The new app improves user experience and allows us to decommission legacy tech.
This change is part of our wider IAM work. We’re working to modernise authentication and access control to reduce our cyber security risk. We are still in the early stages of this project, currently focusing on fixing the basics for internal users.
