Drupal 7 support is ending
Most of the Drupal websites hosted by University Information Services (UIS) are built on Drupal 7. Drupal 7 is an open-source Content Management System (CMS) that was released in 2011 and reached end-of-life on 5 January 2025. At this time, official Drupal 7 support from Drupal ended. The support for contributed modules, which extended the functionality of Drupal 7, ended in August 2023.
We have secured extended support for UIS-hosted Drupal 7 sites with third-party suppliers into 2026.
Moving to Drupal 10
UIS is working hard to ensure the stability and security of our Drupal websites.
We are transferring the current UIS-managed Drupal 7 sites from on-premise hosting to a more scalable managed platform that uses cloud infrastructure.
We're also working on plans to transition both our Drupal 7, and a smaller number of Drupal 9 sites, to Drupal 10.
What this means for your site
If your Drupal 7 site is managed by UIS, you can find further details and follow the project progress on the Web and Intranet SharePoint site
We would recommend that you sign up to join the University Content Community for content-related training events. This will help you to improve your content ahead of the move to Drupal 10. You can also find advice about creating content, auditing your content and measuring your content on the Content Community SharePoint website.
Managing content in Drupal 10
After each existing Drupal 7 site is migrated to Drupal 10, the Web Platform team will contact site owners. You can then edit your content and add new content to your site.
