Account locking

Part of the security applied to the network ensures that your account cannot be accessed by brute force attacks. If you enter your password five times incorrectly, your account becomes 'Locked Out' for 10 minutes.

This does not affect any of your documents, emails or other systems, only your ability to access the ACN Network. Systems such as CamSIS will still be accessible from any PC connected to the ACN.

While your account is locked out, you will not be able to access the following services:

  • Webmail
  • Remote Access
  • Secure Remote
  • Any ACN connected PC
  • The Council website
  • FTP Access
  • Sharepoint

Retirement of UIS Windows Software Update Service (WSUS) on 30 June

We need to accelerate our original plan and fully decommission the Windows Software Update Service (WSUS) server on 30 June, rather than the 1 September, due to security concerns and the need to prioritise our resources to support the University.

The University Card Service will reopen with a limited service on Wednesday 1 July
