You are strongly advised to make your own arrangements to ensure that your certificates are renewed in good time. Failure to do so will result in visitors to your site receiving confusing security warnings and possibly being unable to connect at all.

At present, certificates must be replaced when they expire. We regret that it is not possible to renew UIS-issued certificates. If your existing certificate is due to expire within the next few days or weeks, please apply for a new certificate. This new certificate's expiry date will be based on its date of issue (not from the expiry date of the certificate being replaced).

See 'Application process and charges' for instructions on how to apply. A 'Certificate Signing Request' (CSR) will be required, which can based on the server's existing keys or on new keys, though best practice is to generate a new key pair for each renewal.
