We will be carrying out essential maintenance to the University Wireless Service on several dates in July. This is to implement updates, upgrades and fixes, and to ensure the ongoing resilience of the service.
During these maintenance periods, the service will be liable to interruption. You may be unable to connect to:
- eduroam
- UniOfCam-Guest
- UniOfCam-IoT
- local SSIDs
The maintenance periods in July are:
- Monday, 15 July, 7am to 9am: service should be considered at risk
We will be upgrading Wireless Network Access Control (ClearPass) to a new version to fix bugs and enhance the service. This system is designed to be upgraded without affecting service, but it should be considered at risk during this maintenance.
- Tuesday, 30 and Wednesday, 31 July, 7:30am to 9am: service may be interrupted and running with reduced resilience
We will be replacing 10 wireless controllers with new equipment in the primary wireless cluster in the West Cambridge Data Centre:- at 7:30am on Tuesday, 30 July we will change the system over to the backup site in the Central Network Hub so that we can work on it
- at 7:30am on Wednesday, 31 July we will move the system from the backup to the primary site.
Each of these moves will cause connectivity disruption during the out-of-hours period. Over these 2 days, the system will be running with reduced resilience.
