Managed Endpoint Protection Service

UIS's Managed Endpoint Protection Service helps you to protect your institution's endpoints while giving you an overview of your systems and what's happening on them.

It enables you send emergency policy changes or detection updates to all machines to protect them from the latest emerging malware threats.

UIS selected McAfee's Endpoint Security antivirus solution. Its Adaptive Threat Protection, next-generation Real Protect scanning and Dynamic Application Containment perform automated analysis to contain, block or clean files with known malicious or unknown reputations. Best of all, UIS currently provides this service to institutions free of charge.

About the service

UIS has a licence for McAfee antivirus products, which are available free of charge to all students and staff of the University and Colleges. Our Managed Endpoint Protection Service allows you to deploy and manage the anti-malware protection for your institution's endpoints from a central policy orchestrator. UIS will provide a basic set of policy configurations, but you can choose the settings and configuration that best suits your institution's needs. We can guide you through the set-up and configuration process during a site visit, if needed, and can provide support if you have any queries.

What you get

  • An instance within our McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) for your institution, which gives you remote access to the central ePO console.
  • Automatic notification of malware events in your institution.
  • Advice on adding systems to the ePO.
  • A basic set of policy configurations, as well as a demonstration of how to set policies on your systems.
  • A basic set of reports and queries, and a tutorial on how to create your own.
  • A maintained and updated ePO, which ensures the latest DATs, patches and updates are available and automatically deployed to your institution.

Benefits

Stop more known and unknown threats. McAfee's Advanced Threat Defense can detect stealthy, zero-day malware. It combines low-touch static analysis engines such as antivirus signatures, reputation and real-time emulation with dynamic analysis (sandboxing) to analyse actual behaviour, which is essential in combating modern crypto-locker-style attacks. Using standard antivirus solutions without next-generation add-ins leaves machines open to zero-day attacks.
