UIS has a licence for McAfee anti-virus products, which are available free of charge to all current students and staff of the University and Colleges. The licence also allows for use on home machines. Once installed, the products will automatically check for and download new anti-virus definitions daily.

PLEASE NOTE:

The zip file above contains 2 executable files that MUST be installed in the correct order. Please uninstall any other anti-virus software (including VirusScan 8.8) prior to installing this product.

1. Install UIS_McAfee_10_5_3.exe - this may take some time as this installs the McAfee Agent, Endpoint Security Platform and Endpoint Security Threat Prevention modules. To speed up the install, turn off Windows Defender (this will be turned off automatically during the install, but it helps speed up the install if it's off at the start)
2. Install Adaptive_Threat_Protection_10_5_3.exe to install the ATP add-in.

Mandatory Hotfix

Download both zip files, extract contents and run setupEP_HF.exe to install hotfix 1 for ENS 10.5.3 followed by setupATP.exe to install hotfix 1 for ATP 10.5.3

McAfee VirusScan: 8.8

You should uninstall any previous version of VirusScan (or any other antivirus product) before installing if installing the product.

• McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.8 (pre-configured, contains latest patches for VirusScan - will install on 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows).
• NOTE: This version installs VSE 8.8 with patch 10 and McAfee agent 5.0.6.220 Both are required when upgrading to Windows 10 Creator Fall edition (1709). We recommend uninstalling VirusScan 8.8 prior to upgrading Windows, then installing this version.

  You must install this prior to upgrading to Windows 10 Fall Creator edition (1709) or use the pre-configured full version (available above).

Strict version of VirusScan 8.8

The second version of Enterprise 8.8 (available below) is preconfigured with very strict rules that may prevent you from installing or running some programs, please make sure you only use this version if you are aware of the possible consequences.

• McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.8 (pre-configured, contains patch 7 for VirusScan - will install on 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows). Please note: In order to prevent cryptolocker (and other similar malware) this configuration will prevent programs that use appdata/local or appdata/roaming from runnning or installing. If problems occur while trying to install software, temporarily turn off Access Protection.
