University of Cambridge Microsoft accounts

The University of Cambridge has an Enrolment for Education Solutions (EES) Agreement with Microsoft. This allows all matriculating University students, and staff from participating instituations who are entitled to a University of Cambridge Microsoft account to install Office 365 ProPlus on their personal devices and get access to a 1TB OneDrive for Business cloud-based filestore. It also gives them access to the Microsoft Imagine Academy online training resouces. For participating institutions, it also provides a licence to install Office desktop software on institutionally-owned machines, and site-wide Client Access Licences (CALs).

How to get your University Microsoft account

Before you can sign up for your University (i.e. 'Business') Microsoft account under the University's EES agreement, you must complete the following preparatory steps in order to enable your account behind the scenes. Please be patient and allow up to 3 hours for your account to be enabled – you cannot proceed until your UIS Password has been synced with Microsoft's Active Directory.

Participating non-University institutions

In addition to the 'core' University (i.e. its Schools, Faculties and Departments), the following non-University institutions have chosen to participate in the University's EES Agreement, not otherwise being covered as part of the 'core' University. This allows them to include members of their staff (their matriculated students already qualify, being members of the 'core' Univeristy).

What happens to my University Microsoft account when I leave Cambridge?

On leaving the university you will lose access to Microsoft Office365 software that is available at no cost to current staff and students. If you are making use of this service you will need to take action prior to leaving to find an alternative, otherwise you will find your files inaccessible and Office applications will not work.
