Examination Open Day and what to expect

All Examination Candidates registered with the Exams, Assessment and Mitigation Committee (EAMC) for Examinations with adjustments are entitled to attend an Examination Open Day.

Examination Open Days occur annually at the end of April before the Examinations with Adjustments period begins in May. The Exams, Assessment and Mitigation Committee (EAMC) publish the exact dates in advance to all candidates who have registered for Examinations with Adjustments.

During an Open Day you will need to visit the dedicated venue to meet with Exams, Assessment and Mitigation Committee (EAMC) representatives who are able to help you to set up your Candidate Word template on the DS-Exams system provided by the UIS ready for use during your Examinations.

You can setup the following items on your template prior to your Examinations at an Examination Open Day

  • The background colour on your Examination Word template
  • Change the font to be used for your Examination Word template
  • Change the font size to be used for your Examination Word template
  • Set up and create keyboard shortcut keys that you will require during your Examination.

(Note: A Crib sheet of all keyboard shortcuts can only be created at an Open Day for use to take into your Examinations and has to of been signed off and authorised for use by a Exams, Assessment and Mitigation Committee (EAMC) representative.)

You can also bring any special requirements along with you to an Examination Open Day such as your own keyboard or mouse for testing its compatibility with the DS-Exams system.
