Information Services offers an Institution Support Service which can be contracted on an hourly or daily rate, either on an on-going contractual basis or as one-off.

The Institution Support Service may be beneficial in many situations:

  • Smaller institutions who are unable to afford a full time Computer Officer and can not easily contract for a few hours or a day per week.
  • Larger institutions who would welcome greater integration with UIS.
  • Holiday or illness cover, particularly for institutions who have a sole computer officer with the concomitant lack of back-up.
  • Maternity leave cover.
  • Specialist Support for research groups within an institution.
  • Supported network.

This service covers a wide variety of expertise including Windows and Mac desktop and server support,  and supported network.

Institution Support charges are based on the standard UIS rates. Colleges and other non-university institutions will also incur VAT at the standard rate.

Institutions subscribing to this service on an on-going basis are also eligible for additional services, such as server hosting and backup arrangements,  at cost-recovery rates.
