Important notes

  • You don't need to install Office 365 ProPlus to use the OneDrive-University account.

  • These procedures are for your OneDrive-University account, not a OneDrive Personal account.

  • You must not install the OneDrive Sync client on your work PC – this will break your profile.

  • OneDrive-University is only supported by Internet Explorer.

    First-time users: getting started

    1. If this is the first time you have used Office 365 ProPlus you will either need to synchronise your password via the UIS Password Management portal at:

    Start, All Programs, Microsoft OneDrive - University, UIS Password Management

    or use a web browser to go to https://password.raven.cam.ac.uk and reset your password. You can reset it to the same password.

    Notes:

    • This will synchronise your password for a range of UIS managed systems including Raven, Hermes, MCS and the University Active Directory – necessary for enabling OneDrive.
    • This will not affect the password that you use to login to your PC.
    • Synchronisation may take up to 3 hours and we strongly recommend that you wait for this to occur before continuing.

     

    2. Click on the Start menu shortcut located in:

    Start, All Programs, Microsoft OneDrive - University, OneDrive Web View

    This will open the Office 365 sign in page. From now on you must use Internet Explorer.

    3. Important: Tick the ‘Keep me signed in’ box before entering your credentials.

    4. In the Email address or phone number box enter your login credentials, which are: [CRSid]@cam.ac.uk. Don't enter your password yet.

    5. Before you have the opportunity to enter your password i.e. by clicking anywhere on the screen or pressing the Tab or Enter key and if you have multiple accounts you will be asked to choose between your ‘Work or school account’ or your ‘Personal account’, you must choose ‘Work or school account’.

    6. You will now be automatically re-directed to the University of Cambridge Active Directory login page where you should enter your password and click Sign in, (this is not the same username and password as you use for your PC, it will be the password you reset earlier).

    7. Following successful authentication, you will be directed to the Office 365 home page. You will need to click on the OneDrive tile to setup your OneDrive-University space.

    8. Subsequent uses of OneDrive-University will not require you to re-authenticate. However, if you have chosen to ‘Delete browsing history on exit’, as set within IE’s Internet Properties, you will have to re-authenticate each time you access OneDrive (steps 2–6 above).

    All users: day-to-day use of OneDrive

    We have provided two ways to access your OneDrive-University account.

    Note: If you have been logged out of OneDrive-University due to inactivity you will be prompted to re-authenticate. Remember to tick the ‘Keep me signed in’ box before entering your credentials. 

    OneDrive File View

    Click on Start, All Programs, Microsoft OneDrive - Univeristy, OneDrive File View

    This will open a Windows Explorer window, showing your OneDrive-University files and folders.

    Note: Subsequent logins will automatically map to the O: drive. If you have chosen to ‘Delete browsing history on exit’ in IE’s Internet Properties, Drive O: will not be auto-mapped and you will see the following authentication request when you next access OneDrive.

    You will need to re-authenticate by repeating steps 3–6 in the 'first-time user' section above.

     

    OneDrive Web View

    Click on Start, All Programs, Microsoft OneDrive - Univeristy, OneDrive Web View.

    This will open a web window to your Office 365 OneDrive home page. You must use Internet Explorer. You will need to click on the OneDrive tile to access your OneDrive-University space. The Web View also provides tools to manage your OneDrive-University environment.

    Note: If you have chosen to ‘Delete browsing history on exit’ in IE’s Internet Properties you will need to re-authenticate by repeating steps 2-6 in the First Time User section above.

     

    Help

    • OneDrive-University is only supported by Internet Explorer.
    • Periodically you may need to re-authenticate to OneDrive-University. Remember to tick ‘Keep me signed in’ before entering your credentials.
    • If your OneDrive-University account has not been accessed for 5 days you may have to re-authenticate.
    • The maximum file size is 4.2 GB for the OneDrive mapped as drive 0:.
    • The Sync option from Web View is not available.
    • These procedures are for your OneDrive-University account, not a OneDrive Personal account.
    • If you have problems authenticating to OneDrive try deleting Internet Explorer cookies: Start, Control Panel, Internet options. In the Internet Properties window on the General tab Click on ‘Delete’.

      In the ‘Delete Browsing History’ window, uncheck all the check boxes except ‘Cookies and website data’ and click on Delete.
