Existing Dropbox Plus users

Do you have a:

1. Plus account with a CRSid@cam.ac.uk email address?

If you upgrade your existing Dropbox Plus account that is linked to your CRSid@cam.ac.uk email address to Dropbox Business, your Plus subscription will immediately end.

Any remaining credit on the Plus subscription will be refunded to the original payment method on a pro-rata basis.

or a

2. Plus account with another email address?

If your Dropbox Plus account is linked to an email address other than CRSid@cam.ac.uk, you’ll not be eligible for a refund.

To receive any refund, you need to change the email address associated with your account before you upgrade.

Existing Dropbox Business users

Dropbox allows users to be a member of only one Business 'team' at a time.

There can be no external members in the University team.

If leaving another team, you will lose access to their team folders, so you should take personal copies of anything you need from the team folders before leaving the other team.

You could:

1. migrate to the University Dropbox

There are different routes for this depending on whether you are the team administrator for your Dropbox Business account, and if there are other members of your current team who are (or are not) not migrating.

If you are not the team administrator for your account, contact the
team administrator and ask them to convert your account to a personal
basic account and  arrange a refund for the time remaining that you
had paid for. Once you have left the other team, you can join the
University Dropbox Business team.

If you are the team administrator, and there are other members
of your team who are not transferring to our team, arrange
to add one of them as a team administrator. Then ask them to convert
your account to a personal basic account and arrange a refund for the time remaining that you have paid for. Once you have left the other team, you can join the University Dropbox Business team.

For other cases, or if you are uncertain, please contact dropbox@uis.cam.ac.uk for advice on the best procedure for your situation.

2. keep your own Dropbox Business account

You don’t have to merge your own Dropbox Business account into the University's account.

You don’t need to do anything if you want to keep your existing account separate.

You should also advise the members of your own Dropbox Business team not to purchase the University's Dropbox Business.

Existing Dropbox account with an email address which isn’t CRSid@cam.ac.uk

If you’ve a Dropbox account using, for example, a gmail.com email address, you won’t be able to use it to join the University of Cambridge Dropbox Business team.

Instead, you’ll be prompted to create a brand new Dropbox Business account with your CRSid@cam.ac.uk email address.

If you don’t change your email address on your original account, it won’t be affected, and you can choose whether or not to pair it with your new Dropbox Business account.
