Leaving the University

When you leave the University, you'll need to remove your account from the Cambridge University 'team' in the Self-Service Gateway.

Your Dropbox account will be downgraded to a free Personal Basic account.

When this happens, you need to:

  1. create a new password

  2. change the email address associated with your Dropbox account to another email address you own

If you don’t do steps 1 and 2, you won’t be able to login to your Dropbox account when you leave.

If you leave the University without changing your email address and haven't given us a leaving email address, we'll block access to your account.

After 60 days, your files will be deleted.

Set up a leaving email address

  1. Go to

  2. On the 'Person' tab, click on the 'Edit' button at bottom of the page

  3. Scroll down to Leaving email address:

  4. In the text box next to Value, add an email address you’ll be able to access after you leave the University

  5. Select University from the dropdown on the right of the row for the Leaving email address

  6. Click ‘Save’

  7. Your leaving email address should now be displayed on You can change it at any time by following the same steps.

What you can do after your account is removed from the University team

  • If you’re using less than your 2GB storage allowance, you can continue using the free Basic account

  • If you need more Dropbox storage space, you can purchase a Dropbox Plus account

  • Alternatively, you can move some or all of your files out of your Dropbox.

University Wireless Service maintenance 07:00–09:00 Wednesday 20 March

The University Wireless Service (eduroam and UniOfCam) will be subject to interruptions between 07:00 and 09:00 on Wednesday 20 March, while we investigate the problems that occurred during this week’s fail-over test.
