LinkedIn Learning Terms & Conditions and Privacy Notice

Terms & Conditions

  • The terms and conditions are set out below

Privacy Notice

This policy relates to personal data, as defined by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), held for the access and administration of LinkedIn Learning.

This document details the data you will be sharing with LinkedIn Learning, where it will be stored and how it may be used.

Please Note: A LinkedIn Learning account is different from a LinkedIn Profile account. The partial campus subscription we have to LinkedIn Learning does not bind people's LinkedIn Profile account to their LinkedIn Learning account.

Data you will be sharing

As part of the account creation the following pieces of data are shared with LinkedIn Learning:

  • your University CRSID as part of your University email e.g. <crsid>@cam.ac.uk via the attribute release through Raven
  • your first name and surname

LinkedIn Learning records all your LinkedIn Learning course activity against your account.

Additionally your user account may be grouped for user account management purposes.

During registration LinkedIn Learning will prompt you for an optional closest match on Job Title (current or desired) in order that it can recommend content based on the chosen Job Title.

For information about what can be exported from LinkedIn Learning see LinkedIn Learning Solutions, Lynda and The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

How your information will be used within the University

Within the University, this information is used for the following purposes:

  • To provide analytics and reporting on uptake of the LinkedIn Learning service
  • To provide training activity history for participants and administrators
  • To provide personal training history records in the Human Resources CHRIS database
  • To provide information about training courses attended by researchers for the Research Development Committee, and where required to report this to the Research Councils or other funders
  • To provide your institutional administrator with LinkedIn Learning course activity information so they can monitor and ensure that training needs are being met
  • To provide your line manager with your LinkedIn Learning course activity information so they can monitor and ensure that training needs are being met

Access to the administrative part of the database is restricted to appropriate technical and support staff of the University.

If it becomes apparent that inaccurate information is held, this information can be corrected by contacting the service provider.

Please see our main University IT facilities and services privacy notice for more information.

Participants should contact the service provider if they have questions regarding this policy.

Data storage

Your data is securely stored on LinkedIn Learning servers and may be transferred to, and stored at, a destination outside the European Economic Area but under the governance of a Data Protection Addendum including EU model clauses such that all storage of your data complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
