Android devices

These instructions were prepared using a Samsung Galaxy S. There are likely to be some differences with other Android devices.

  1. Go to home screen, press Applications
  2. Select the Email icon
  3. Under Accounts tap Add Account
  4. Enter your email address (e.g. xyz789@cam.ac.uk) and your Hermes password
  5. Tick Send email from this account by default
  6. Click Manual setup
  7. Choose IMAP account
  8. Change your username to just your CRSid (i.e. xyz789, not xyz789@cam.ac.uk)
  9. Re-enter your password
  10. Set IMAP server as imap.hermes.cam.ac.uk
  11. Set Security type to SSL (accept all certificates)
  12. tap Next
  13. Set SMTP server to smtp.hermes.cam.ac.uk
  14. Set Security type to SSL (accept all certificates)
  15. On the next screen set an account name.
