Information for IT staff

How to use the University's SharePoint Online service to create/delete sites for your institutional users.

Who can use this service

The service is available to Institutions that are participating in the University's EES Agreement.

Who can create SharePoint Online sites within an institution?

Acting on feedback received following the soft launch to IT staff in January, we are now taking the membership of the Lookup Institutional Editors groups (instead of the Institutional Managers groups) and adding them to the corresponding institutional admin groups in the Blue AD. This transfer happens once an hour. This group in Blue is then synced to the Microsoft cloud. Once synced to the cloud, members of this group may create SharePoint Online sites for the institution.

What support is available from UIS?

The service is provided for IT staff who are familiar with SharePoint/SharePoint Online, and UIS is not able to provide extended support. UIS will provide support for site creation/deletion only.

Does UIS offer any SharePoint training for institutions?

Yes. We offer a course that aims to cover topics that will assist institutions in evaluating SharePoint 2013 or SharePoint Online (2016) for their institutional requirements.
