DS-Remote FAQs

Q My department has said I can redeem a voucher to use an application on DS-Remote. How do I redeem a voucher?

A Go to the DS-Remote Web Store, login and either click the Redeem Voucher button next to Service Subscription, or switch to the Vouchers tab and click the Redeem button next to the appropriate voucher.


Q I want to pay for the service myself. How do I add credit?

A See Adding credit


Q How do I stop credit being taken from my account as I will not be using the service any more?

A Change the Autorenew option for your active subscription to Off. Next time the renewal is due the subscription will expire instead of taking money from your balance.


Q How do I subscribe to and then access the application?

A So long as you have credit or a voucher to redeem go to the DS-Remote Web Store and click Activate for the applications you want to use. Now click the Connect option at the top of the page. This will give you the appropriate RDP configuration file to connect to the application servers. You may want to save this for quick access later.


Q I cannot connect to the application. What am I doing wrong?

A Do you have a remote desktop client on your device? Go to Remote Desktop Connection to check. If you still cannot connect, please contact the UIS Service Desk -


Q I want to access DS-Remote from Windows 7 when away from Cambridge.

 A Due to enhanced security requirements of DS-Remote, if you are using Windows 7 (NOT Windows 8, 8.1 or 10) away from Cambridge you will need to Click Here for additional configuration details.
