Institutional File Storage
Institutional File Store is a service for departments to store and share everyday documents with colleagues. This is aimed at desktop and laptop users who will have access to the storage via a mapped drive on their computer. The data is safely stored on an industry standard hardware platform in the University’s central data centres to protect against data loss.
Falcon-on-Drupal
UIS currently offers two different website content management systems, which is a duplication of cost and effort. To streamline our offerings, we're developing 'Falcon-on-Drupal' – retaining the concept of the Falcon service, but delivering it on the Drupal platform.
Virtual Desktop Infrasructure (VDI) project
Our Desktop and Systems team is currently exploring a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) as an additional way of providing managed desktop services to the University. This model hosts desktop software on a remote server and uses middleware to make applications available via an internet connection to any device, including desktop PCs, thin clients, phones and tablets.
Postgraduate Funding Project
The collegiate university would like to create a unified application system for postgraduate funding so that applicants can apply for our internal funding as part of their application for admission (this is currently limited to a few of the larger funders).
