Windows 7 reaches end-of-life this month
Windows 7 reaches end of life on 14 January, after which Microsoft will no longer supply security updates and bug fixes for the operating system.
Upgrade of the webmail interface for Hermes on Wednesday 8 January
The webmail interface for Hermes (https://webmail.hermes.cam.ac.uk) will be unavailable for a short time between 07:15 and 07:45 on Wednesday 8 January 2020 while we upgrade the underlying software to a newer version.
VPN certificate replaced December 2019
VPN users may need to configure and update to use the new VPN certificate.
UIS Christmas closure 24 December 2019 to 2 January 2020
UIS, including the UIS Service Desk and Reception in the Roger Needham Building will be closed for Christmas and New Year from Tuesday 24 December at 17:00. We will re-open on Thursday 2 January 2020 at 08:30. The Service Desk will also be closed, but we have an emergency contact in case you need one.
Lecture capture: Panopto planned maintenance on Saturday 4 January
Lecture capture recordings will be unavailable during the evening of Saturday 4 January 2020 because Panopto is undergoing an upgrade.
Major upgrade to the phone system during 28–29 December
The University phone service will be disrupted on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 December while we perform the annual upgrade of the system's core software.
Wireless Service maintenance and upgrade work in December
We have a programme of maintenance and upgrade work planned for the Wireless Service in December. There may be interruptions in connectivity during the work, but we’ll do our best to keep the disruption to a minimum.
Wireless service maintenance on 13 and 19 November
The Wireless Service will be subject to interruption between 07:30 and 09:00 on Wednesday 13 and Tuesday 19 November while we carry out essential maintenance.

Please beware emails that offer you easy jobs that you can do part-time while you study. They are scams that aim to trick you into providing personal information, such as your bank or passport details, driver's licence or student number.
Wi-Fi network maintenance 07:00–09:00 Wednesday 18 September
The University’s wireless service will be unavailable for significant periods between 07:00 and 09:00 on Wednesday 18 September while we carry out essential maintenance work.

There will be short interruptions to the wireless service on Tuesday 10 September between 07:00 and 09:00 as we implement an upgrade to the operating system. We'll do our best to minimise any disruption.
Centrally managed lecture room bookings now open in Booker for AY19/20
You can now use Booker, the University's new room-booking system, to book rooms that are centrally managed by the Student Registry and Estate Management for the 19/20 academic year.
Changes to MCS Macintosh provisioning
We're making changes to how Managed Cluster Service (MCS) Macs are provisioned to bring device management into line with Apple device best practices. As a result, some manual interactions will be required because certain stages can't be automated.
