Instructions for preparing your managed ACN/UAS desktop PC for use at home
We've rolled out a change to create a local account on every network attached to Administrative Computing Network (ACN) computers so that they will work at home as a local host. If you have permission from your manager and are planning to take your PC home, you will need to take action while it is still connected to the University network to prepare it for use on your home network.

Teams is a recommended and supported online collaboration tool for the University.
Decommissioning plans for old version control systems
We're decommissioning old version control systems because they've been replaced by the University Developer Hub GitLab service. Users of the old systems will need to migrate all their repositories.
Wireless service maintenance on 19 March
The University Wireless Service will be unavailable between 07:00 and 09:00 on Thursday 19 March while we carry out essential maintenance.

UIS’ recent Collaboration Tools Strategy identified Microsoft 365 as a solution that met the needs of many University users and UIS has embarked on a project to deploy and encourage adoption of the collaboration tool, Teams.
The Network Access Tokens system to gain new features in March
We’re launching a new version of the UIS Network Access Tokens system on Tuesday 10 March that includes several often-requested features and improves security. Users will be able to create a separate token for each device, and IT staff will be able to create tokens for shared institutional devices.
Google changes to personal accounts do not affect G Suite for Education accounts
We've received the following statement from Google confirming that University Google accounts (G Suite for Education) are not affected by the recent changes to personal free Google accounts.
CHRIS, ESS and UPS unavailable all day on Thursday 27 February
CHRIS, Employee Self Service (ESS) and UPS will be unavailable all day, Thursday 27 February, while CHRIS is upgraded. Other HR systems will be available to use.
Additional Google services now available to University members
All University members can now activate additional Google services, including Google Analytics and YouTube, that were not among the ‘core’ services in our G Suite@Cambridge agreement.
Delays in email delivery between PPSW and Exchange Online tenancies
Several institutions reported to us that messages to their Exchange Online tenancies were being blocked following routine maintenance to the central email switch (PPSW) on Monday 20 January. We believe we've discovered the cause and implemented a workaround that has cleared the backlog and will prevent this from happening again.
Phone system maintenance on Saturday 1 February
We're planning to update the University phone system on Saturday 1 February. Desk phones may reboot several times during this process, but there should be no effect on calls.
