Most of the licensed teaching applications UIS provides on the MCS is for institutional use only, but student licences are available for some software.

The majority of the licensed teaching applications provided by UIS on the Managed Cluster Service (MCS) is for institutional use only. However, student licences are available for:

  • Atlas.ti
  • MatLab
  • Nvivo
  • SPSS

These are available to download from the UIS Software Distribution site at https://software.uis.cam.ac.uk. Log in with your CRSid and Raven password, and choose Personal software. Select and download the application required. ​

​ArcGIS​

Although ArcGIS is not available to download, some online resources and modules are available to students. To use them, please email a request to with your CRSid.​

EndNote

EndNote is reference management software. It is available to University members from the University's Academia online store

Mathematica

Mathematica is only available for students studying Astronomy, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, Computer Science and Technology, Earth Science, Economics, Geography, Mathematics, Physics and Zoology. An activation key is required in order to use it. Please contact your departmental IT support for details.

QGis

QGis is an open source GIS application. It can be downloaded from https://www.qgis.org/en/site/forusers/download.html. Please accept the default options for both the Windows and Mac installations.​
