UPDATE: 10 October 2022 Transcoding has now resumed, following remedial work. The backlog of uploaded media items is now being processed.

We have temporarily suspended the transcoding of media uploaded to the Streaming Media Service (SMS) while we undertake some remedial work.

Please do not try to upload new media to the SMS at this time.

Transcoding of media already uploaded to the SMS will continue once the work is complete.

This work does not affect viewing live media. Users can view SMS content as usual. 

We will update again once transcoding has resumed. You can also sign up to receive email/text alerts about the SMS and other UIS services via the IT Service Status System (ITSS).

We apologies for the inconvenience.
