University Information Services

Moodle, the University’s virtual learning environment, will be moved to a Catalyst-managed Moodle hosting service during December and January.

Each migration will result in up to a single day’s downtime for the Moodle being migrated, with users unable to access the Moodle. The Assessment Moodle will be unaffected.

The migrations will take place on the dates below;

  • Archive Moodle – Wednesday 14 December
  • Main Moodle – Tuesday 10 January
  • ICE Moodle – Tuesday 24 January

Access to the individual Moodle will return the day after migration but the Course History process will be suspended from Monday 12 December until all migrations have been completed.

During the suspension, Moodle Coordinators can back up courses on the Main Moodle and download the backup to their computer. The backup can be restored as a copy of the original course on the Main Moodle if required. Backups will exclude any user activity such as student submissions to assignments.

Should you have any questions please contact moodlehelp@uis.cam.ac.uk.
