IT Help and Support

University Information Services

Moodle, the University’s virtual learning environment, will be unavailable from 06:00 to 12:00 on Tuesday 11 January while we upgrade it to version 3.9.

The upgrade will introduce several improvements and new features, including:

  • improved forum interface with in-page replies and private reply option
  • CRSids will be visible in more areas, which makes it easier for course administrators to identify users
  • a new activity chooser enables teachers to easily select activities and resources easily.

The upgrade will also:

  • improve Moodle security and reduce vulnerabilities
  • ensure compatibility with third-party Moodle community plug-ins
  • maximise support, as all core modules will be up-to-date and supported by Moodle.org
  • resolve a number of known issues.

Support material will be available on the Moodle website to coincide with the release.
