Richard Hey

About Richard

Since May 2017, Richard's key responsibility has been to manage UIS's client relationships across the University. He is responsible for defining service levels, and identifying and evaluating IT investment opportunities.

Prior to this, Richard was Head of User Services within UIS, where he was responsible for a team of 60, covering a diverse range of IT services and support functions that are now delivered by our Infrastructure Division.

Before Richard joined the University in 2010, he was IT Support Manager for the Faculty of Engineering at Imperial College – one of the largest and most-respected engineering faculties in the UK – where he was responsible for IT support and service delivery.

Earlier in his career, Richard was IT Director at The Oratory School, where he had responsibility for all elements of IT across the organisation and led the teaching of IT and Computer Science. Richard has considerable experience of teaching Physics, Computing Science and IT throughout the Secondary School age range and is a Chartered Physicist.

In parallel to his teaching career, Richard spent over 10 years in the Royal Navy Reserve. He remains passionate about IT Services and strives daily to improve the relevance, efficiency and quality of services and support to the University through the Relationship Management functions.

Richard is a Governing Body Fellow of Wolfson College.

Moodle upgrade on Tuesday 23 July

Moodle, the University's virtual learning environment, will be upgraded on Tuesday 23 July between 07:00 and 12:00. The service will be unavailable during this period.

Wi-Fi upgrade on Saturday 6 July

We'll be implementing a significant migration of the University Wireless Service to a new underlying operating system and controller platform on Saturday 6 July between 08:00 and 17:00.
