Slow loading of University websites on 11 March 2016

On Friday, 11 March 2016 many University websites were slow to load for some users for approximately 2.5 hours due to problems loading the corporate font from the Internet. Over the weekend of 12-13 March we bypassed the use of the corporate font on some websites, which might have caused them to look a little different to normal. Sites reverted to their normal behaviour at 09:30 on Monday, 14 March.

Soulsby data centre outage on 20 February 2016

At approximately 12:20 on Saturday, 20 February a very brief electrical power disruption to the entire West Cambridge site caused power systems at the Soulsby data centre to switch to the backup systems. Power to the IT services continued without interruption, but the air chiller units did not restart properly, causing the temperature in the room to rise steadily until it triggered an emergency shutdown at approximately 13:20. UIS staff worked into the evening to bring services back online.

eduroam and RADIUS faults on 6 February 2016

Users of eduroam and other services that use the UIS RADIUS servers may have experienced problems recently and in particular on Saturday 6 February 2016, which should have been cleared by 15:25.

Internal network fault on 8 January 2016

We identified a problem with the network infrastructure. This has now been resolved, and we believe that the affected services – University wireless network including eduroam, Hermes, Falcon, and the Managed Web Service – are now running as normal.

Moodle upgrade on Tuesday 23 July

Moodle, the University's virtual learning environment, will be upgraded on Tuesday 23 July between 07:00 and 12:00. The service will be unavailable during this period.

Wi-Fi upgrade on Saturday 6 July

We'll be implementing a significant migration of the University Wireless Service to a new underlying operating system and controller platform on Saturday 6 July between 08:00 and 17:00.
