Mail for Apple iOS

Instructions for setting up Apple mail using the automated profile configuration script, UCam_Exchange_Online_iOS_EAS.mobileconfig

Before you start: If you have never done so, sync your UIS Password to the Blue Active Directory by running through the Change Password procedure using the UIS Password Management application at password.csx.cam.ac.uk. You can keep using your current password – the important part is that you run through the process one time only in order to trigger the sync with Blue, and then onwards to Azure, Microsoft’s Active Directory which ultimately controls your access to Exchange Online services. It may take up to 3 hours for your password to sync to Azure. You can’t complete the Exchange Online configuration until your UIS Password has synced with Azure, and will get error messages when you try to log in. These errors will stop once your password has synced.

Note: These instructions were created on an iPad, but the process is the same for iPhones.

  1. Using Safari, download the UCam_Exchange_Online_macOS.mobileconfig file.

  2. The file will auto-run. Click Install:

  3. Click Install:

  4. Enter your CRSid@cam.ac.uk email address and click Next:

  5. Enter your UIS Password and click Next:

  6. You will see the Profile Installed confirmation. Click Done to close the pop-up:

  7. In the Profiles & Device Management pane, the new UCam Exchange Online: Active Sync profile will be listed.
    You can now close this window:

  8. Open the Mail app, and you will now see your Exchange mailbox (there may be a delay while your messages are downloaded):

    Note: By default, this profile sets your email retrieval to Push new email to your device – you may want to change this in Mail’s Settings.
